Q1. Can I take my Mitsubishi Cleansui outside of the United States and use it?
As it is made to be used in the U.S. and Canada, you may see variable performance based on local water quality. Please note that we do not take any responsibility or liability for any damage due to the usage outside the of the recommended region.
Q2. Can I buy a Mitsubishi Cleansui product overseas?
Mitsubishi Cleansui products are currently only available in the United States and Canada (as of 2017).

It is made in Japan.

Q4. What is the material of the Mitsubishi Cleansui pitcher?
The pitcher case is made from SAN (styrene-acrylonitrile) resin; the reservoir is made from MBS (methacrylate butadiene styrene) resin, and the lid from ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene resin) resin and polypropylene.
Q5. How do I adjust a calendar dial on the pitcher?
Turn the calendar dial so that the small dot(○) aligns with the next number of your starting month . For example, if you start using in January, align the dot (○) with February. You should change your filter in April.
Q6. What is a "spout cover"?
You can fill the water simply by flipping this cover. You do not need to remove the entire lid when you refill.
Q7. Is the Mitsubishi Cleansui product antimicrobial?
The pitcher is not treated with antibacterial agents, but the cartridge is treated with a trace amount of silver for its antibacterial property.
Q8. How do I clean the Mitsubishi Cleansui Pitcher? - 1
Remove a cartridge, and simply hand wash the body, the lid and reservoir with a diluted mild detergent. Please rinse and dry well.
Q9. How do I clean the Mitsubishi Cleansui Pitcher? - 2
If the dirt persists, please soak in a solution of water and bleach and rinse well.
※ For bleach usage, please read the instruction of bleach that you are using.
※ Do NOT use detergents or bleaching agents on cartridges.
Q10. What is the life expectancy of a Mitsubishi Cleansui pitcher?
Due to its material (resin), the durability of a pitcher (excluding the filter cartridge) is approximately 3 to 4 years depending on your usage.

Q14. Can I filter liquids other than tap water?
Please filter only portable drinking water (tap water) as using other than tap water may cause clogging and affect taste and smell of water.
Q15. Up to what temperatures can Mitsubishi Cleansui pitcher and filter be used?
Pitcher: below 140F (60℃) or less.
Filter cartridge: below 95F (35℃).
Q16. How much water can I fill?
AJP407-D: 9.3 Cups(74.4 oz/2.2 L)
Q17. The top lid does not close properly.
Please check the orientation of the reservoir. Using a dishwasher or dryer may cause deformation and discoloration.
Q18. The unfiltered water in the reservoir also comes out as I pour. - 1
Before pouring please make sure all the water in the reservoir has dropped through the filter and nothing is left in the reservoir.
Q19. The unfiltered water in the reservoir also comes out as I pour. - 2
Depending on an angle you are pouring, it is possible that some unfiltered water could mix in.
Q20. There are black and pink deposits in the bottom of the pitcher as well as in the lid area.
Please clean the pitcher and the lid by following Mitsubishi Cleansui care method (Refer to Question No.37).
Q21. What should I do if my Mitsubishi Cleansui breaks after the warranty period?
After the warranty period expires, you need to buy a new Mitsubishi Cleansui pitcher.
Q22. Is silver used in the pitcher?
The pitcher itself does not contain silver, but the activated carbon in the filter is treated with a trace amount of silver for antimicrobial purposes.
Q23. How to use
We recommend to store your Mitsubishi Cleansui pitcher in a refrigerator when not in use.
※ There is a possibility of bacteria if it is kept at room temperature for a long period of time.
Q24. How to care
Pitcher: Wash with diluted, dish detergent and dry thoroughly.
Cartridge: Dry well and put it in a plastic wrap or a zip lock bag and keep it in a refrigerator. (Maximum period of storage in the refrigerator is half a month, after that we recommend you use a new filter.)
Q25. Can I give the filtered water to pets?
You can give the filtered water to your pets, but please check their condition just in case.
Q26. Can I use the filtered water in a fish tank?
Please do not use the filtered water for fish.
Q27. Can I give the filtered water to plants?
Please use the filtered water upon checking the growing condition of the plants.
Q28. On the instruction manual, it states "you must prepare the filter cartridge before use for its full performance of removing contaminants". Why?
If you skip the filter cartridge preparation, you will likely experience a longer filtration time, find charcoal particles floating in the water and/or notice a smell of plastic.
Q29. What are the black specks in the reservoir of the pitcher?
Those black specks are activated carbon particles. Seeing these particles is normal and they will be removed in the filtering process and does not affect its performance.
Q30. I am seeing the black specks (powder) flowing out from the filter cartridge into the pitcher.
It is most likely the activated carbon particles that had already been on the filter cartridge. If it continues, please contact us.
Q31. Some water flows back into the reservoir as I pour.
Although it is rare, the filtered water sometimes flows back into the reservoir as you pour. If this happens, please check if the filter cartridge is inserted properly.
Q32. Is my Mitsubishi Cleansui BPA free?
Yes. All Mitsubishi Cleansui pitchers are BPA free.

Q33. How long does it take to filter water?
After the filter cartridge is prepared, it takes about 5 minutes to filter the amount in the reservoir.
Q34. It takes a long time to filter the water.
When the water drips from the filter slowly, it is possible that the air capture hole is being blocked by activated carbon particles. Try poking the top part of the filter cartridge with a pointy object and shake it up and down a few times.
Q35. What does Mitsubishi Cleansui remove from water?
The Mitsubishi Cleansui filter is tested and certified by NSF against NSF/ANSI 42 for the reduction of chlorine taste.
Q36. What does "the total filtration flow rate 100 liters, removal rate 80%" mean?
Even after filtering 100 liters (26 gallons) of water, Mitsubishi Cleansui can remove contaminants at a rate of 80% or more.
Q37. What does "filtered water flow rate 100 Liters, filtration flow rate 50%" mean?
Even after filtering 100 liters (26 gallons) of water, there is still a capacity of 50% or more filtration flow rate.
Q38. How often should I change the filter?
If you use 64 oz (1.89 L/about 8 cups）everyday, you should be changing your filter every 1.5 months.
※ Frequency of filter changes vary depending on your use and water type (hard/soft).
※ You should change your filter also if you notice it takes longer to filter or notice a smell or taste of chlorine.
Q39. Can I filter any kind of water?
Please use with water that meets the drinking standard of tap water.
Q40. Can I filter well water?
Do not filter well water as it contains a lot of foreign substances.
Q41. Are there any contaminants that a Mitsubishi Cleansui filter cannot remove?
Mitsubishi Cleansui does not remove salinity (i.e. sea water) and metal ions (except for lead) found in water.
Q42. Is the "hollow fiber membrane" of the filter the same one as used in medical products?
Although the composition is the same, it is not identical to the one used in medical products.
Q43. Is a chemical substance used in the manufacturing process of the filter's "hollow fiber membrane?
The hollow fiber membrane (the filter) is a type of polyethylene and is manufactured by heat treatment.
Q44. Where is the filter made?
It is made in Japan.
Q45. How can I dispose the used filter cartridge?
Please follow the garbage disposal standards of your residence.
Q46. What are trihalomethanes?
Trihalomethanes are the byproducts of chlorination of water that contains natural organic matter.
Q47. Does Mitsubishi Cleansui remove radioactive substances?
Mitsubishi Cleansui does not remove radioactive substances.
Q48. I filtered hot water by mistake.
Give it a few days and see how the filter works. If you do not notice any strange smell or taste, you can use the filter until its replacement time.
Q49. I want to know the manufacture date of my Mitsubishi Cleansui pitcher.
Please check the sticker label on the bottom of the box.
Q50. Does Mitsubishi Cleansui remove minerals from water?
Mitsubishi Cleansui does not remove natural minerals that are essential for tasty water.

Q51. How long can I keep the filtered water in the pitcher?
Filtered water can be stored for 24 hours at room temperature and for 2 days in a refrigerator.
Q52. The filtered water smells like plastic or tastes like chemicals.
Please check the following:
① Have you went through the preparation step of the filter before use?
② Is the filter inserted properly into the reservoir?
③ Is there a white (or grey) ring attached to the side of the filter cartridge?
Q53. The filtered water smells and tastes odd.
Such a condition can be caused by (1) substances captured in the hollow fiber membrane, and/or (2) the filter life expectancy has expired (please replace a filter).
Q54. Can I use the filtered water for baby formula?
Yes, you can use the filtered water for making baby formula.
Q55. Can I make ice cubes using the filtered water?
You can use the filtered water for making ice cubes. Please consume them within two days.
Q56. The White substance is left behind on the bottom of the kettle or pot that I used to boil the filtered water.
Minerals do not evaporate and remain in a kettle or pot which can be seen in a form of white substance. If you do not clean a kettle or pot well this white deposit can become thick. Minerals deposits can also occur by heating an empty kettle or pot or continuous boiling.
Q57. White fluffy substance appears when boiling in an aluminum kettle.
Aluminum, like iron, is easily corroded. For this reason, alunite-processing is applied in the manufacturing process creating a film on the aluminum surface in order to prevent such a corrosion. Because this film on the aluminum surface is very thin, scrubbing or applying extreme heat will cause a crack in the aluminum. When such exposed aluminum reacts with the oxygen present in water, it produces "white fluffy" aluminum hydroxide.
Q58. Can Mitsubishi Cleansui remove viruses?
No, it does not remove viruses.

Q59. Can I store a pitcher inside the freezer?
Please do not keep in the freezer as it causes damage.
Q60. I have a metal allergy. Can I use a Mitsubishi Cleansui product?
Since a trace amount of silver is used in the filter cartridge, we recommend you consult a doctor before use.
Q61. What is the size of 0.2 micrometers?
It is 2 / 10,000 mm.
