Greetings from the President

Seven years ago, I was working in a stable position at a major company. I sensed the risk of staying in the same place, and began to explore the idea of working overseas. At the same time I’d begun to explore tea ceremonies as a hobby and loved the simplicity but goodness of indulging in a cup of Japanese tea. A job posting piqued my interest and before long I ventured to New York by myself with a simple desire to bring that same goodness I found within Japanese products to the world.

From that point on, I’ve been helping Japanese products and brands succeed in the American market. As I have worked with many companies that have expanded overseas, there are two things that I feel are the most important, yet simple, keys to success for non-US companies expanding overseas.

The first is to build a firm relationship between the client outside of the US and our local team in the US as a true partner. This relationship of trust allows us to share information smoothly and to clarify our goals and strategies. With this in place, each and every member of the team, including the clients, carry confidence and a sense of mission — and are able to approach market development with a sense of purpose.

Secondly, we need to be flexible and quick to respond to the ever-changing market trends and needs. The U.S. market, in particular, is one where technology and trends change rapidly, and it is essential that we remain sensitive to these changes. Our team members are from diverse backgrounds, allowing us to respond swiftly these fast changing times

The U.S. is a free market with a lot of opportunities, but it is also very competitive. In order for a foreign brand to succeed in this market, it is absolutely essential to have not only the product appeal, but also strong teamwork and flexible and quick strategy implementation.

CEO

After graduating from Chuo University, Sayuri Tsubouchi joined Canon Marketing Japan, where she was worked in BtoB digital marketing sales promotion. From 2014, she moved to NYC and worked at Mira Design Corp to expand Japanese products into the US market. In 2021, she started her own company, Bous.Co with her husband, Tak and her special team.

After graduating from Chuo University, Takuya Tsubouchi worked as an overseas sales representative for a management consulting company and a financial systems company in Japan before establishing a design and advertising agency in Indonesia in 2009. After doubling sales to the U.S. from 200 million yen to 400 million yen in one year, he moved to the U.S. in 2015 to start a branch office in the U.S. In 2017, he founded TYDE Studio Inc, a digital marketing agency in New York. Appointed JETRO NY Coordinator in 2018.
